Harlan’s Holiday and Proud Citizen are each having a very successful as freshman sire; Indian Charlie has come into his own as a sire of high-quality runners; and Include continues to impress.

Stud Fees Are Heading Down!

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

As of Friday 11/11/07, most of the Kentucky stud farms have announced their 2008 stud fees. Here’s the latest count:

Stud Fees Up: 27
Stud Fees Down: 61
No Change: 121

It’s pretty clear that stud fees have peaked and a market adjustment has begun. With few exceptions, it’s nearly impossible to expand stallions books and increase stud fees at the same time. This is certainly good news for breeders. I’ll continue to post the cumulative results here as the balance of the farms announce 2008 fees.
